HD Hyundai, Palantir Collaborate on Advanced AI Shipyard Tech
Washington D.C. / Seoul, South Korea—HD Hyundai (KRX: 267250) Executive Vice Chairman Chung Kisun met with Palantir Technologies Inc. (NYSE: PLTR) CEO Alex Karp at Palantir's Washington, D.C. office to discuss their AI shipyard project.
The executives reviewed progress on their ongoing collaboration and discussed potential cooperation in the defense sector.
Both companies stated that their joint efforts could enhance security capabilities for the United States and South Korea.
HD Hyundai has worked with Palantir on the Future of Shipyard (FOS) project since 2021.
The project involves developing shipyards using digital technologies, including data analytics, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
The company intends to complete the final phase of the FOS project by 2030 and build an "Intelligent Autonomous Operating Shipyard."
HD Hyundai projects that this facility will improve productivity by 30% and reduce construction periods by 30%.
Since September, the companies have jointly developed an unmanned surface vessel called "TENEBRIS" while maintaining projects with HD Hyundai Infracore.
Chung appeared in a Palantir promotional video at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, presenting HD Hyundai's shipyard plans.
An HD Hyundai representative said Chung is in the United States for CERA Week, scheduled for March 10-14 in Houston, Texas.
