Hyundai IONIQ 5 Sets Record: 5,802m Altitude Change in India

Gurugram, India / Seoul, South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company announced today that its IONIQ 5 electric vehicle has set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most remarkable altitude change by an electric car, recording a total elevation change of 5,802 meters.

The record attempt, organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited and executed by the Evo India team, covered more than 4,900 kilometers across India over 14 days.

The journey commenced at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, 5,799 meters above sea level, and concluded in Kuttanad, Kerala, three meters below sea level.

The standard production IONIQ 5 used for the record operates on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and features a 72.6 kWh battery capacity.

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited, confirmed the achievement, noting the vehicle's performance across varying environmental conditions, from freezing Himalayan temperatures to humid coastal regions.

The vehicle's design draws inspiration from Hyundai's PONY model, incorporating this heritage into its electric mobility platform.
