Kakao Entertainment's Global K-pop Push: IU, IVE Lead Charge
Seoul, South Korea—Kakao Entertainment is gearing up for a significant expansion into global markets in the latter half of 2024.
The company plans to leverage its multi-label system and focus on producing global IP to solidify its position in the international music scene.
Key to this strategy is the continued promotion of world tours for artists under its labels. IU, fresh off successful concerts in Asia and Europe, is set to perform across six U.S. cities.
Meanwhile, after their sold-out world tour, IVE will grace the stages of Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic 2024 in Japan.
In a notable move, Kakao Entertainment is collaborating with Moon&Back Media to debut a new British boy band.
The project, which combines Kakao's business acumen with SM Entertainment's artist development expertise, will be featured in a BBC series titled "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience."
Joseph Chang, co-CEO of Kakao Entertainment, stated,
"This will enable us to strengthen further the music business's competitiveness on the global stage and solidify our position as a key player in K-pop."
As Kakao Entertainment expands its partnerships and distribution networks, it appears poised to make significant inroads in the global entertainment landscape.
