KCC Unveils AI-Powered Autonomous Painting Robot for Construction Industry

Seoul, South Korea—KCC has developed an autonomous painting robot called "SMART CANVAS," the first in the domestic coating industry. 

The robot combines AI and Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology and is designed to automate horizontal surface painting tasks.

SMART CANVAS uses advanced sensing devices to recognize painting spaces and performs tasks according to user-defined conditions. 

The robot applies specially developed paint optimized for its capabilities, ensuring uniform coating thickness even in large areas.

The autonomous robot features Lidar-based navigation, allowing it to detect and avoid obstacles during operation. 

KCC expects the commercialization of SMART CANVAS to improve work efficiency, enhance safety, reduce construction time, and increase productivity.

Developed in late 2022, SMART CANVAS aligns with government policies promoting smart construction methods.

KCC plans to continue innovating in smart construction technology and aims to play a significant role in domestic and international smart construction projects.

A KCC representative stated, "SMART CANVAS, utilizing advanced technologies like AI and AMR, has the potential to revolutionize painting operations and overall productivity and safety in industrial settings."
