Korean AI Startup whereable.ai Secures Seed Investment
Seoul, South Korea - NAVER D2SF has invested in whereable.ai, an artificial intelligence autonomous driving startup founded in January 2024.
Quad Ventures led the seed funding round, which included participation from NAVER D2SF and POSTECH Holdings.
The funding amount is not disclosed to the public.
whereable.ai develops autonomous driving technology utilizing self-supervised learning.
This technology recognizes road environments in real-time and optimizes for environmental changes.
The system processes data directly on devices rather than in cloud infrastructure and allows for flexible route adjustments based on customer requirements, enabling immediate deployment without high-precision mapping.
The founding team previously established Thordrive, one of South Korea's early autonomous driving ventures.
Four months after formation, whereable.ai secured a contract to deploy autonomous mobility vehicles at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2's departure area through a consortium with hy Mobility and ATECH Mobility.
The company is testing ten indoor autonomous vehicles at Incheon International Airport for passenger transport.
Official operations are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025.
whereable.ai plans to initially target international airports before expanding to other venues, such as shopping malls, resorts, golf courses, campuses, and industrial facilities.
NAVER D2SF continues developing partnerships between its mobility investments and other NAVER divisions.
LiDAR company MobilTech has established an agreement with NAVER targeting Saudi Arabian markets, while autonomous driving simulation firm MORAI collaborates with NAVER Labs and NAVER Cloud.
