KT Secures KRW 14.5B AI Contract with Supreme Court

Seoul, South Korea - KT (NYSE: KT) has signed a KRW 14.5 billion contract with the Supreme Court to develop an AI platform for trial operations support, the company said on Monday.

The project is intended to digitally transform the Supreme Court’s trial support processes in order to increase efficiency and accuracy, according to KT.

A consortium led by KT, which includes LBox, Konan Technology, and MT Data, will conduct the work over a period of about four years, KT said.

According to KT, the consortium was selected in the bidding process based on factors including KT’s proposal of a customer-tailored multi large language model lineup, which features a legal-specialized language model based on ‘Mi:DM 2.0’; LBox’s experience operating commercial legal tech AI and related services; and Konan Technology’s data search and labeling technologies adapted for legal use.

KT will handle the design and construction of the AI platform, utilizing its background in public sector AI transformation projects and its capabilities in AI and information and communications technology, the company said.

The platform will feature a legal-specialized AI model, AI search services drawing on judgments and statutes, automatic extraction and summarization of trial issues, and support functions for judgment drafting, according to KT.

KT stated that the Supreme Court expects the project to address trial delays, improve work productivity, and promote innovation in judicial administration through AI transformation.

KT plans to expand its business-to-government and business-to-business AI transformation efforts using its self-developed Korean AI model 'Mi:DM 2.0', starting with this Supreme Court project, the company said.
