LG CNS Implements Smart City Technology in Georgia Town
Hogansville, GA—LG CNS announced on Thursday that it has signed a contract with the city of Hogansville, Georgia, to deploy smart poles and an integrated control system.
The agreement represents LG CNS's first contract with a U.S. government entity, involving the installation of IoT-enabled smart poles in downtown Hogansville and city parks.
According to the company, each pole will have lighting control systems, public Wi-Fi access points, CCTV cameras, and environmental sensors.
The poles will also feature emergency call buttons connected to local police services and will be managed through LG CNS's proprietary "Cityhub Building" platform.
LG CNS stated that the installation will feature electric vehicle charging capabilities and digital signage.
"Smart infrastructure is essential to accelerating city development, improving operational efficiency, strengthening public safety, and enhancing the daily lives of residents," LG CNS Chief Executive Officer Shin-Gyoon Hyun said in a statement.
The company stated that, following the implementation in Hogansville, it plans to expand its smart city initiatives to neighboring Georgia municipalities, including LaGrange and West Point.
LG CNS reports that it previously provided design consulting for Indonesia's new capital city project, Nusantara.
The firm also participates in two major smart city developments in South Korea through consortia: the Sejong Smart City project, valued at approximately KRW 3.2 trillion (US$2.25 billion), and the Busan Eco Delta Smart City project, valued at around KRW 5.4 trillion (US$3.80 billion).
