LG Display Unveils Stretchable Automotive Screens at SID 2025

San Jose, CA—LG Display will exhibit automotive display technologies at SID Display Week 2025, including a stretchable screen that expands by up to 50%.

The South Korean firm stated it will showcase automotive displays at the industry event, which will take place May 13-15 in San Jose, California.

The company said its stretchable display maintains a 100 pixels per inch resolution while expanding.

According to the statement, when touched, the display protrudes to form buttons that can be operated while driving.

LG Display plans to exhibit a 57-inch Pillar-to-Pillar display spanning from the driver's side to the passenger's side of a vehicle dashboard.

The company recently commercialized a 40-inch version of this technology.

The company statement quoted Keuk-sang Kwon, head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display, saying, "We will continue to showcase new technologies that can create differentiated customer value. "

The firm will also display an 18-inch Slidable OLED that extends from a vehicle's ceiling and a Switchable Privacy Mode technology that makes content visible to passengers but not drivers.

The company stated that the Pillar-to-Pillar and Slidable display function is from -40°C to 85 °C.

LG Display commercialized Tandem OLED for automotive applications in 2019.
