LG to Supply 981MWh of Energy Storage Systems to Poland's PGE.

Seoul, South Korea / Warszawa, Poland - LG Energy Solution has signed an agreement with PGE, Poland's largest energy sector company, to supply 981MWh of grid-scale energy storage system (ESS) batteries between 2026 and 2027, the company announced Tuesday.

The agreement includes collaboration between the two companies to establish a battery energy storage facility in Żarnowiec, Poland, with PGE planning to commence commercial operations in 2027.

LG Energy Solution will partner with European partners to provide a turnkey solution encompassing containerized battery systems and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services.

The project will feature the first grid-scale ESS batteries manufactured at the company's production facility in Poland.

The batteries will utilize high-capacity lithium iron phosphate (LFP) long-cell technology, enhancing energy efficiency and safety features.

According to the company, these batteries offer higher energy density than conventional LFP solutions and include Liquid Cooling technology designed to optimize performance and reliability.

PGE, which supplies electricity to nearly six million households, businesses, and institutions across Poland, characterized the project as a significant development in the country's energy infrastructure.

LG Energy Solution indicated that this agreement is expected to bolster its position in future public tenders for European state-owned energy companies and expand its presence in the regional grid-scale ESS market.

The company is utilizing its "Made in Europe" manufacturing capabilities to meet the demands of European customers and governments, which prioritize locally produced solutions.
