LINE Yahoo Mandates AI Use for All 11,000 Staff

Tokyo, Japan - LINE Yahoo Corp. has mandated that all of its approximately 11,000 employees use artificial intelligence tools in their work, implementing the policy on July 14 as the Japanese internet company pursues a plan to double productivity over the next three years.

The company stated that the mandate covers research, document creation, and meetings, which it says account for about 30 percent of employee work activities.

LINE Yahoo said it aims to utilize AI among its staff fully.

Under the new rules, employees are required to use AI systems before conducting searches, according to the company.

Staff are required to use AI to generate document outlines before creating documents and must also use AI for proofreading, according to LINE Yahoo.

The company stated that it will use AI to transcribe all internal meetings.

LINE Yahoo said it began providing ChatGPT Enterprise accounts to all employees in June.

The company requires staff to complete training on risk management and AI prompting techniques, and to pass a test before accessing AI systems.

The company stated that it has deployed AI promotion officers in all departments and plans to introduce recognition programs to promote the use of AI.

LINE Yahoo said it has deployed 51 AI-powered features in its consumer services and is operating more than 35 internal efficiency projects using AI technology as of July 14.

The company said employees can skip optional meetings and review AI-generated meeting records instead.

For internal policy searches, staff must use the company’s tool called SeekAI, according to the announcement.
