NAVER Cloud to Deploy Sovereign AI Platform for Bank of Korea
Seoul, South Korea—NAVER Cloud announced on Friday that it has secured a contract to provide the Bank of Korea with a dedicated generative AI platform based on its HyperCLOVA X model.
The central bank and NAVER Cloud will develop a financial and economic specialized AI model by training the HyperCLOVA X model with the Bank of Korea's data. Services are scheduled to begin in October.
NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM's “NeuroCloud for HyperClover X” solution will be utilized to implement this service.
This solution is characterized by directly installing cloud infrastructure within the customer's data center.
NAVER Cloud emphasized that AI can only be trained on the internal network to prevent external data leakage.
"This contract represents the first implementation of NeuroCloud in Korea's domestic financial sector," said Kim Yu-won, CEO of NAVER Cloud. "It will be a successful case of establishing sovereign AI in the financial field where security and innovation are simultaneously required."
According to NAVER Cloud, the platform will initially offer core functions such as document search, summarization, translation, and Q&A chatbots to enhance staff productivity.
The companies plan to develop specialized tools for economic research and analysis to progressively advance capabilities so AI can function as personal "AI agents" for individual employees.
The two organizations are also considering long-term plans to jointly develop public services integrating HyperCLOVA X with the Bank of Korea's data search, summarization, and recommendation capabilities.
With growing domestic and international interest in sovereign AI, NAVER Cloud stated that it is virtually the only company in South Korea capable of supporting independent AI development with cloud infrastructure and large language model technology.
