Naver Launches AI Image Filters for Places Service
SEOUL, South Korea – Naver Corp has introduced artificial intelligence technology in its Places business directory service to categorize images based on establishment types, the company announced.
The South Korean internet firm stated that the new system sorts images in business listing photo sections according to industry-specific categories, rather than applying uniform filters to all businesses.
For example, restaurants now have filters for food and beverages, menus, and interior or exterior scenery, according to Naver.
Hotels and other accommodations have categories for rooms, views, and swimming pools.
Beauty salons receive filters for cuts, perms, hair coloring, and men's services.
Naver has also applied category-specific filters to services such as nail salons and golf courses.
The company stated that its AI technology analyzes image characteristics to categorize photos by theme.
This system replaces Naver’s previous approach, which applied identical image filters to all business categories.
According to Ji-hoon Choi, head of Naver Places Search and Content, the AI system was trained on business-specific themes to improve classification accuracy.
Choi added that the company plans to continue integrating AI technology across its services.
Naver Places operates as part of the company's internet services portfolio.
