Naver Pay Launches WeChat Pay Integration Across China

Seoul, South Korea - Naver Pay announced on Tuesday that it became the country's first mobile payment service to offer WeChat Pay QR code payments across mainland China.

The new integration makes Naver Pay the only South Korean payment service to provide access to all three major Chinese mobile payment platforms - WeChat Pay, UnionPay, and Alipay Plus, following its initial partnership with UnionPay and Alipay Plus in September 2023.

Users can access WeChat Pay services through the Naver Pay app without requiring additional applications or registrations.

The service uses the Merchant Presented Mode (MPM) system, where users scan merchant QR codes using a dedicated camera button located at the bottom center of the Naver Pay app.

The payment process converts Chinese currency to Korean won, displaying the expected amount before completion.

When transaction amounts exceed available balances, the system automatically recharges in KRW 10,000 increments from linked accounts.

Through its partnership with UnionPay, Naver Pay is offering a 10% instant discount promotion running until March 2024.

Additional benefits include point collection opportunities and stamp rewards for QR payment usage.

Users can access the UnionPay QR payment service through the Naver Pay app's QR payment screen.

Detailed information about promotions and benefits can be found by searching for "Naver Pay on-site payment" on Naver and checking the "Event of the Month" section.
