Samsung, Intel Mark vRAN Milestone, Boost Performance

Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics and Intel have achieved a significant milestone in their virtualized Open RAN (vRAN) collaboration.

The companies successfully completed the first end-to-end call in a Samsung lab environment using pre-release Intel "Granite Rapids-D" processors and Samsung's vRAN 3.0 software.

The test at Samsung's R&D facility in Korea demonstrated performance gains and reduced power consumption.

This latest achievement resulted in significant power consumption reductions and performance improvements, building on successful real-world vRAN deployments with major operators since 2017.

Samsung, a major player in 5G networks, continues to expand its virtualized and open ecosystem.

Intel remains focused on developing next-generation Xeon processors to meet the evolving needs of operators.

In addition, the collaboration extends to AI innovations for potential use in RAN performance optimization and intelligent traffic management.
