Samsung Launches Zero-Power 32-Inch E-Paper Display

Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics announced the availability of a 32-inch electronic paper display that requires no power when displaying static images.

The EM32DX model uses digital ink technology and operates on an internal battery.

The display weighs 2.5 kilograms and measures 17.9 millimeters in thickness.

When content remains unchanged, power consumption measures 0.00 watts under International Electrotechnical Commission standards.

The device produces images at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution and features 13.9-millimeter borders. Samsung designed the unit to function in both horizontal and vertical orientations, making it compatible with standard VESA mounting systems.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Samsung's Visual Display Business, stated that the company aims to advance display technology while reducing energy consumption.

Connectivity options include two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The device contains 8 gigabytes of storage space.

Samsung created mobile applications for Android devices operating version 10 or newer and iOS devices running version 15 or newer to control the display.

The company's VXT management platform supports the device for enterprise applications requiring centralized control and remote monitoring.

The display runs Samsung's Tizen 8.0 operating system and provides programming interfaces for integration with existing business systems.

Samsung constructed the device cover using 55 percent recycled plastic and ships the product in paper packaging. Power measurements follow IEC 62301 standards, where consumption below 0.005 watts is registered as 0.00 watts.

The company reported holding the largest share of the global digital signage market for 16 consecutive years.

Samsung achieved 34.6 percent market share by unit volume in 2024, according to Omdia's fourth-quarter public display report, which excludes consumer televisions.
