Samsung Unveils Gauss2 AI Model with Triple-Variant Architecture
Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics unveiled its second-generation artificial intelligence model, Samsung Gauss2, at its virtual Samsung Developer Conference Korea 2024 on Thursday.
Samsung Gauss2 is a multimodal model integrating language, code, and images across three variants: Compact, Balanced, and Supreme.
It supports 9 to 14 languages and various programming languages.
The Compact model operates in limited computing environments, while the Balanced model focuses on consistent task performance.
The Supreme model uses a Mixture of Expert technology to reduce computational costs while maintaining performance levels.
Internal testing shows that the Balanced and Supreme models match or exceed leading open-source generative AI models in English and Korean response generation, with 1.5 to 3 times faster processing speeds.
Samsung's in-house coding assistant, code. i, powered by Samsung Gauss2, report monthly usage has quadrupled since December, with approximately 60% of software developers in the Device Experience Division now using the system.
"Samsung Electronics is committed to developing cutting-edge software, including AI and data analytics, to enhance user experiences," said Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, President and CTO of the Device Experience Division.
Since August, the company has implemented Samsung Gauss in call centers to categorize and summarize customer calls automatically.
In its 11th year, the conference included 29 technical sessions covering healthcare, IoT, software platforms, communications, and data topics.
