Samsung's Galaxy S23 faces a potential price increase.
Samsung Electronics (KRX: 005930) will lift its Galaxy S23 in the South Korean market next month to align it with the U.S. retail price when the exchange rate is applied.
Recently leaked promotional images for Galaxy S23 sales in the South Korean market indicate that the base model (8 GB RAM, 256 GB) will be priced at KRW 1.15 million (US$936.69), while the Ultra model (12 GB RAM, 256 GB) will be priced at KRW 1,599,400 (US$1302.73).
This is a significant increase from the KRW 999,900 (US$ 814.43) price of the previous Galaxy S22.
Prices in the US are expected to be similar to the previous generation.
However, the specifications will likely differ between the South Korean market and the U.S. models, with the U.S. model having a lower storage capacity.
The mobile industry suspects that Samsung priced the South Korean market based on the current exchange rate, similar to what Apple did with the iPhone 14 last year.
