SK Telecom partners with Lambda for AI cloud services in South Korea
SEOUL, South Korea—SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) and U.S.-based Lambda have partnered to collaborate on AI cloud business in South Korea, the companies announced on Wednesday.
The agreement involves establishing a large-scale NVIDIA GPU cluster in SK Broadband's Gasan data center by the end of 2023.
The cluster will utilize Lambda's cloud computing platform, which NVIDIA accelerates.
SK Telecom plans to launch AI cloud services, including GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), which will allow enterprises to access GPU cloud services on demand for AI development and utilization.
Kim Kyeong-deog, Vice President and Head of the Enterprise Business Division at SK Telecom, stated that the partnership would strengthen the company's competitiveness in AI cloud services and develop more significant business opportunities in South Korea.
Lambda CEO Stephen Balaban expressed excitement about supporting SK Telecom's efforts to grow and develop AI cloud expertise in the region.
The collaboration is expected to support SK Telecom's expansion of AI cloud services into the global market.
