Sony Unveils XYN Platform for Spatial Content Creation

Las Vegas, NV / Tokyo, JapanSony Corporation has launched XYN, an integrated software and hardware solution for creating spatial content.

The system leverages Sony's imaging, sensing, and display technologies to capture real-world objects, human motion, and backgrounds for 3D computer graphics production.

The XYN Motion Studio software, which will launch in late March 2025, will support connections with 12 mocopi sensors through dedicated receivers in professional mode.

The Windows PC application introduces automatic motion interpolation and auto-tagging functions for motion data editing.

Sony is developing a spatial capture solution to convert real-world objects and spaces into 3D computer graphics assets using mirrorless cameras and proprietary algorithms.

A prototype mobile application for visualizing camera shooting conditions in real time is under development.

The company introduced the XYN Headset prototype, featuring 4K OLED microdisplays and video see-through functionality.

Sony Pictures Animation conducts proof-of-concept experiments with the headset for pre-visualization and 3D character modeling.

Sony will demonstrate XYN at CES 2025 in Las Vegas from January 7-10.
