Spoon Radio Launches Vigloo: Global Short-Form K-Drama Platform

Seoul, South Korea - Spoon Radio, an audio platform operator based in South Korea, has recently launched Vigloo, a global short-form drama platform. 

The service offers two-minute episodes in seven languages. 

At its launch, Vigloo offered 50 original K-drama titles, with plans to expand this number to 100 by the end of the year. 

In a statement to the press, CEO Hyukjae Choi indicated that the company intends to leverage its experience in the audio platform market to inform its approach to the short-form video market.

The platform will feature content produced in South Korea, Japan, and the United States. 

This launch is consistent with the growing global popularity of short-form dramas. 

According to iMedia Research, the market value of short-form dramas in China reached KRW 6.98 trillion in 2023. 

Sensor Tower data indicates a significant increase in the overseas market, with in-app purchase revenue up 280% and downloads increasing 220% from September 2023 to February 2024.

Vigloo offers the inaugural five episodes of each series at no cost. 

The platform provides a diverse range of genres, including romance and thriller. Notable titles include "Be My Ex Just Once" and "Forbid Nineteen."
