Tech Giants Launch $500B AI Infrastructure Project in US

Washington, D.C. - SoftBank Group Corp. and OpenAI announced plans to invest $500 billion over four years in a new venture called the Stargate Project to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States.

According to a press release by the companies, the initiative will begin with an immediate deployment of $100 billion.

The project aims to create thousands of American jobs while establishing U.S. leadership in AI development.

SoftBank and OpenAI will serve as lead partners in the venture, with SoftBank handling financial responsibilities and OpenAI managing operations. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman of the project.

Initial equity funders include SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. The project has secured technology partnerships with Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Oracle.

Construction has already begun in Texas, with additional sites under evaluation nationwide.

The initiative builds upon OpenAI's collaboration with NVIDIA, which dates back to 2016, and its partnership with Microsoft Azure, which will continue to expand its computing capabilities.
