Yahoo! Shopping Enhances AI Product Search with Smart Review Analysis

Tokyo, Japan- LINE Yahoo Corp has introduced an AI-powered product recommendation feature on its Yahoo Shopping platform that suggests alternative items based on specific aspects mentioned in customer reviews.

The new functionality, available on Yahoo Shopping's mobile apps and smartphone browser version, uses generative AI to analyze review content and recommend similar products with higher ratings for specific features that customers find lacking in their initial product selection.

The system focuses on particular aspects of product reviews, such as material quality and durability. When a review rates a product below its average rating, the AI suggests comparable items with better feedback on those attributes.

Initially launched in the fashion category, the feature appears in the "AI Summary" section of product review pages. Users can access alternative product suggestions by clicking on reviews below the product's average rating.

Yahoo! Line is currently using OpenAI's API to implement the recommendation feature. The company plans to expand this feature to various product categories.

If this feature becomes more widespread, customers can simplify comparing products when shopping, and more sophisticated information will be available. 

LINE Yahoo Corp stated it would continue developing features to optimize product recommendations for Yahoo Shopping users, aligning with its mission to "create a 'WOW' life platform and deliver excitement to daily life."

The company noted that while the feature employs generative AI technology, it does not guarantee AI-generated recommendations' reliability, accuracy, or completeness.
