Seoul, South Korea — Autonomous driving startup Autonomous a2z and automotive parts supplier HL Klemove announced Wednesday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop Level 4 autonomous driving systems.

The partnership will focus on engineering an artificial intelligence-based end-to-end autonomous driving system built around a high-performance computer.

Under the agreement, the two companies will integrate Autonomous a2z’s Level 4 software platform and urban operational data with HL Klemove’s hardware and sensor capabilities.

HL Klemove, a subsidiary of HL Group, will supply radar, cameras, high-performance computers, sensor fusion, and vehicle control technologies.

Autonomous a2z will lead system integration using data collected from its real-world urban operations.

The companies stated that the joint development aims to establish technical reliability for real-world driving conditions and advance the system toward mass production readiness.

Autonomous a2z CEO Jihyeong Han stated that the collaboration with HL Klemove secures a stable supply chain for autonomous vehicle development and will support the deployment of Level 4 technology for global market expansion.

HL Klemove, which supplies advanced driver-assistance systems to global automakers, stated that it intends to use the partnership to expand its technological portfolio into the Level 4 autonomous sector.
