Las Vegas, NV - Boston Dynamics' Atlas humanoid robot received the "Best Robot" award at CES 2026, the company said on Monday, as the Hyundai Motor Group affiliate outlined plans to deploy the machine in automotive manufacturing facilities.

The award was selected by more than 40 technology journalists from CNET, PCMag, Mashable, ZDNET, and Lifehacker as part of CNET Group's Best of CES 2026 program.

The robot was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas during Hyundai Motor Group's artificial intelligence robotics strategy presentation.

Boston Dynamics said it plans to deploy Atlas at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Savannah, Ga., by 2028.

Initial deployment will focus on parts sequencing processes, with applications expanding to component assembly and tasks involving repetitive motions and heavy loads by 2030.

The humanoid robot can lift up to 110 pounds and operate in temperatures ranging from minus 4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the company.

Atlas has 56 degrees of freedom with fully rotational joints and includes tactile sensing capabilities in its hands.

Boston Dynamics said most tasks can be taught to Atlas in under one day.

The robot operates autonomously, with automatic battery replacement and continuous operation.

The machine is water-resistant and designed for washdowns in industrial environments.

Robert Playter, chief executive of Boston Dynamics, said Atlas was "the best robot we have ever built."

The company said it intends to scale adoption across production sites as it validates the robot's performance.

Hyundai Motor Group said it plans to expand the deployment of Atlas globally by 2030.
