Seoul, South Korea - Brand development company BPLANT announced on Tuesday that it has raised KRW 7 billion (approximately US$5.1 million) in Series A funding from Altos Ventures, which participated as the sole investor.

The Seoul-based company operates through its curation commerce platform, Bronte, and has developed two proprietary brands.

BPLANT initially sold selected third-party products but has since shifted its focus to developing brands based on consumer data.

BPLANT operates two brands: Serene, a wellness brand, and Kurved, a skincare brand.

According to the company, Kurved's Aqua Toner Pad sold 20,000 units upon launch.

The company also reported that the Kurved platform maintains a repurchase rate above 80 percent. BPLANT stated that its first-quarter 2025 revenue was three times its total revenue for 2024.

Serene launched six months ago and has secured placement at department store popups, ranked first on KakaoTalk Shopping Live, and entered the KakaoTalk Gift platform.

The brand received the Communication category award at the 2025 Asia Design Prize.

Chief Executive Kim Soyoung founded Book Power Plant in 2017, launched Bronte in 2020, and introduced Serene and Kurved in 2024.

Kim previously worked as an announcer at South Korean major broadcaster MBC.

Kim said the investment aims to maintain customer engagement and enhance organizational capabilities through research and development, thereby supporting brand expansion in both domestic and overseas markets.
Altos Ventures said it invested based on BPLANT's brand development and customer retention. "BPLANT shows potential for sustained growth given its brand design, product development, and customer retention," an Altos Ventures representative said. "The founder demonstrates an understanding of customer preferences and the ability to implement her vision."

The company stated that it plans to utilize the funding for research and development, as well as international expansion.
