Singapore / Seoul, South Korea - Hyundai Motor Group inaugurated a research laboratory in Singapore on Monday, in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University and the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research.

The laboratory is at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore.

It will conduct research in artificial intelligence, robotics, and three-dimensional printing for automotive manufacturing.

The site is within a production facility that the company uses as a Software-Defined Factory testbed.

The laboratory is the first of its kind in Singapore, situated at both a university and an operational automotive factory.

Research areas are artificial intelligence for manufacturing, robotics for production, three-dimensional printing for vehicle parts, and robotic systems for defect detection.

Juncheul Jung, executive vice president and head of the Manufacturing Solutions Division at Hyundai Motor Group, said the company will apply technologies developed in the laboratory to its global operations.

Hyun Sung Park, Chief Executive of HMGICS, stated that the laboratory will support manufacturing research in Singapore.

NTU Singapore ranked 12th in the QS World University Rankings 2026, which evaluated over 1,500 institutions. A*STAR is Singapore's public sector research and development agency.

NTU participants include the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and the College of Computing and Data Science. Multiple A*STAR research institutes are participating.

The laboratory will work with system integrators and small and medium-sized enterprises in Singapore's automotive sector.
