Cambridge, U.K. - Hyundai Motor Group said on Friday it has signed a partnership agreement with CuspAI, an artificial intelligence company based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, to work on materials development.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration across multiple domains, the companies said in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

CuspAI uses AI models and data-driven simulations for materials discovery, according to the statement.

The company said the technology could reduce development time and costs, though it provided no specific figures.

Hyundai said it plans to apply the technology to materials for future mobility products, focusing on efficiency, durability, and stability.

"By applying AI to solve scientific challenges that conventional methods cannot address, this partnership will strengthen our global leadership in sustainable, next-generation mobility," Chul Park, vice president and head of New Business Strategy Group at Hyundai Motor Group, said in the statement.

Chad Edwards, CEO of CuspAI, said: "AI allows industry leaders to move beyond slow, experimental progress and start delivering greener, more efficient solutions."

CuspAI was co-founded by Professor Max Welling, who serves as chief technology officer, along with Edwards.

The company has offices in Cambridge, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
