Seoul, South Korea - The Korea Startup Forum established a Climate Tech Industry Council on Wednesday.

The organization comprises 26 founding members, including climate-focused companies and investment firms such as 60Hertz, Superbin, Enz, and Envisioning Partners.

Jong-kyu Kim, chief executive of 60Hertz, was appointed chairperson. The company calls itself an energy information technology social venture.

The council said it will develop policy recommendations to address regulatory barriers for technologies in the renewable energy, circular economy and carbon management sectors.

The organization said it plans to integrate artificial intelligence and data technologies with hardware sectors, including hydrogen, batteries and solar energy.

The council identified regulatory constraints and market entry barriers as issues affecting the industry.

Kim said the organization would prioritize research and development collaboration and work to identify regulatory changes to improve conditions for startups in climate technology sectors.

The Korea Startup Forum represents approximately 2,600 companies.

The Climate Tech Industry Council is part of the organization's portfolio of specialized groups, which includes councils focused on telemedicine, legal technology, and artificial intelligence.
