Seoul, South Korea - KREAM, a resale platform for limited-edition goods, began offering peer-to-peer trading of gold and silver products on Friday, using X-ray fluorescence technology to verify authenticity.

The service accepts only precious metals meeting 99.9% purity standards, the company said. Items undergo inspection for physical damage, contamination, and discoloration before X-ray fluorescence analysis determines metal composition.

The platform also conducts conductivity measurements and weighs products using scales accurate to 0.01 grams.

Transactions are canceled if an item's weight falls short of the listed specification by more than 0.01 grams, according to the company.

KREAM said it would impose a 15% penalty on sellers and suspend access for those who attempt to sell counterfeit products.

Buyers receive compensation equal to 300% of the purchase price if an authenticated item is later found to be counterfeit.

The platform restricts trading to standardized products, including gold bars, gold coins, and silver bars.

Processed items such as jewelry cannot be traded through the service. Payment is limited to bank transfers.

A company representative said individuals trading physical gold and silver have encountered difficulties verifying authenticity and purity, as well as challenges understanding market prices and transaction fees.

KREAM operates an authenticated resale marketplace for limited-edition items using anonymous transactions between buyers and sellers.

The platform verifies products before completing sales.

To promote the launch, the company is waiving commission fees and offering 100,000 points to the first 100 sellers.

Discount coupons providing up to 99% off on 3.75 grams of gold will be available through 11 a.m. on Feb. 8.
