KT Completes Thai AI Platform, Expands Southeast Asian Presence

Seoul, South Korea - KT Corp (NYSE: KT) has completed a Thai language large language model (LLM) platform project in collaboration with Jasmine Technology Solutions (JTS), the company announced on Tuesday.

The year-long project, which began in March 2024, involved developing an LLM operations management environment, GPU infrastructure, and a specialized Thai language AI model. 

According to KT, this marks the first instance of a South Korean company establishing a comprehensive AI infrastructure abroad for generative AI services.

The LLM operations management system allows JTS to oversee various AI models' training, deployment, and operation. 

KT stated that the customized solution enables more efficient management of complex generative AI environments.

In partnership with its subsidiary KT Cloud, the company also constructed a GPU resource management facility in Thailand. 

This infrastructure will support JTS in providing GPU subscription services to Thai businesses and institutions, potentially expanding the country's AI ecosystem.

KT and South Korean AI firm Upstage jointly developed the Thai language model, which KT invested in 2023. 

The model supports Thai, English, and Korean languages and has been trained on Thai-specific data to process queries related to the country's politics, history, and culture.

KT will continue its technical partnership with JTS, focusing on enhancing the AI platform, maintaining infrastructure, and developing new services. 

The firms plan to introduce AI services for the Thai market in phases.

The company indicated it would use this project as a reference to expand its AI business beyond Southeast Asia to markets in the Middle East, Europe, and other regions.

JTS is an IT specialist company within Thailand's Jasmine Group. 

Its operations span data centers, ICT solutions, and cloud services.
