KT Corp to Launch Korean AI and Secure Cloud in Q2 2025

Barcelona, Spain—KT Corp (030200.KS, NYSE: KT) will commercialize its Korean AI and Secure Public Cloud (SPC) services in the second quarter of 2025, Chief Executive Young-seop Kim announced on Tuesday at MWC25 in Barcelona.

Kim stated that the firm aims to position itself as an accelerator leading in AI transformation (AX) in South Korea this year. 

The announcement was made during a press conference where KT executives outlined the company's 2025 management strategy.

According to the company, the South Korean AI service extends beyond Korean language processing to incorporate South Korean social, historical, and national perspectives while adhering to domestic regulations. 

KT is developing this offering through its self-developed "Mideum" model, collaboration with Microsoft (MSFT.O), and various open-source models.

The company said KT's Secure Public Cloud will provide an environment similar to existing public clouds while complying with South Korean laws and featuring enhanced security, sovereignty, and scalability.

The telecommunications provider will establish an AX Delivery Specialist Center in the first quarter 2025.

The center will employ approximately 300 people, including KT employees and Microsoft specialists. 

This center will develop customized AI solutions and implement projects for enterprise clients.

The company said KT has restructured its business divisions to accelerate AX implementation by integrating previously separated proposal and operational units. 

KT employees are developing AI agents to optimize their workflow.

According to the announcement, KT and Microsoft will operate a strategic fund beginning this quarter to identify AI solutions from startups and small-to-medium enterprises across various industries.
