KT Genie Music Launches AI DJ Service in South Korea First

SEOUL, South Korea — KT Genie Music has launched an AI-powered music recommendation service, described as the first conversational AI music platform among South Korean streaming services.

The service, AI DJ, operates through the Genie 6.0 platform and responds to user requests for playlists based on specified situations, emotions, or moods.

The technology uses a multi-agent system combined with Microsoft Azure OpenAI large language model. 

A patent application has been filed for the music analysis and recommendation technology.

Users can communicate with the system through text, voice, and image inputs. The service allows image uploads for music recommendations based on visual content.

Daily usage is limited to 20 interactions per user. Users can indicate preferences through feedback options and save recommended playlists.

The updated platform includes a short-form video service, Genie Hot Pick, and a concert recommendation feature that analyzes listening history to suggest live performances.

Promotional prizes will be available through September 7 for users participating in the AI DJ service.

CEO Inwook Seo stated that Genie 6.0 introduces AI DJ, a conversational AI music service that allows users to interact with the system while listening to music.

Plans include expanding AI music services and integration with connected car platforms and live entertainment. KT Genie Music operates as a subsidiary of KT Corp.
