Seoul, South Korea - LG Electronics Inc. announced that it will showcase laundry appliances featuring artificial intelligence technology at the IFA 2025 trade show in Berlin.

The lineup includes the HeatPump WasherDryer, a combination washing and drying unit that has received Energy Class A certification, according to the company.

The appliance utilizes Dual Inverter Heat Pump technology and eco-friendly refrigerants.

LG’s new washing machines feature a Microplastic Care Cycle, which the company says reduces microplastic release by up to 60 percent compared to its Mixed Fabric Cycle.

Intertek, a global testing firm, evaluated the cycle in July 2023 by measuring particles filtered through a 20-micrometer filter during a three-kilogram polyester load.

The appliances are equipped with AI DD technology for automated functions.

The AI Wash system detects load weight to select the optimal wash pattern, while AI Dry adjusts the drying process based on weight, fabric type, and humidity.

Both washing and drying models have achieved Energy Class A efficiency ratings, LG said.

The HeatPump WasherDryer was previously available in Europe as part of LG’s SIGNATURE product line. The unit is designed for built-in installation.

LG will also exhibit a 24-inch WashTower model, available in several colors.

The company will provide installation verification via its ThinQ service platform and offer a Comfort Kit for the European product range.

“Drawing on extensive customer insights and advanced AI, LG has gained a deep understanding of Europeans’ unique lifestyles and laundry habits,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG’s Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.

The appliances are designed for European households and meet regional environmental standards, the company said.

IFA is an annual consumer electronics and home appliance trade show held in Berlin.
