Seoul, South Korea - LG Electronics has released webOS Hub 3.0, an updated version of its television operating system for third-party manufacturers, the company announced on Friday.

The system supports ultra-high-definition televisions with 60Hz displays. Support for 120Hz UHD televisions with mini-LED technology will be added in July, LG said.

LG stated that 600 brands have utilized the webOS Hub platform since it became available to third-party manufacturers five years ago.

The new version includes voice recommendation technology, picture enhancement using neural network super-resolution, and sound processing that reduces noise while enhancing voice clarity, according to the company.

WebOS Hub 3.0 uses updated system-on-chip technology. LG stated that this provides performance improvements compared to the webOS Hub 2.0.

The platform features mini-LED local dimming for 120Hz models, as well as side-by-side and picture-in-picture viewing modes, an always-on display, Wi-Fi 6 support, and Auracast Bluetooth audio, according to the company.

The system provides access to LG Channels, which offers 4,000 channels across 33 markets.

The service is supported by advertising, LG said.

Gaming features include a dashboard, optimizer tools, and a portal for accessing games without the need for external consoles.

The portal offers cloud gaming applications, remotely controlled games, recently played titles, trending games, and personalized recommendations, according to the company.

The platform includes IoT connectivity for home devices, LG said.

"The launch of webOS Hub 3.0 marks a significant milestone in four key areas: market expansion, technological advancement, enhanced B2B partnerships, and future growth," said Chris Jo, head of webOS Platform Business Center at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
