LINE Yahoo Launches AI Price Tool for Yahoo! Flea Market App

TOKYO, Japan — LINE Yahoo Corporation announced Thursday that it has introduced an artificial intelligence feature to its Yahoo! Flea Market app in Japan, designed to estimate prices for secondhand items.

According to the company, the feature analyzes photographs uploaded by users and provides an estimated market price along with the average time to sell.

Users may list items using product descriptions generated by the AI system.

The company stated it does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, completeness, or validity of the results produced by the system.

Sellers are required to confirm automatically generated prices before completing listings, according to LINE Yahoo.

The company also said the function uses Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform and Gemini API.

The tool was first made available through the LINE messaging app on Oct. 27, before being extended to the Yahoo! Flea Market app.

The company reported 30 million cumulative app downloads as of August and stated that listed items increased 130 percent year-over-year in May, though absolute figures were not provided.
