LINE Yahoo Launches AI Shopping Assistant for Appliances

Tokyo, Japan - LINE Yahoo Corporation launched a Shopping AI Assistant feature on its Yahoo! Search platform.

The feature asks users up to three questions and provides up to five product suggestions. Additional questions reduce the number of suggestions to three items, the company said.

LINE Yahoo surveyed 3,000 users on March 7, 2025. Respondents were users who consulted internet resources when considering home appliance purchases.

The company stated that 66.6 percent reported difficulty in judging whether products matched their requirements or comparing multiple products.

The feature encompasses 29 categories of home appliances.

Categories include washing machines, refrigerators, rice cookers, and hair dryers. LINE Yahoo said it will add categories.

Users search for appliance terms and select a button to access the feature.

Questions display selection criteria and hints.

Users can view product details, retail site price comparisons, and customer reviews, the company said.

The system uses Google Cloud's Vertex AI.

The feature incorporates data from mybest, a product comparison service, according to the company.

The feature is available on Yahoo! JAPAN applications for iOS and Android, as well as smartphone browser versions of Yahoo! JAPAN, and through web searches via the LINE application.

The service excludes users under the age of 13.
