LY Corporation to Acquire Cloud Reservation Provider Toretas

Tokyo, Japan - LY Corporation said Friday it would acquire Toretas Co., a provider of cloud-based reservation management software used by more than 19,000 establishments in Japan.

The company did not disclose financial terms. Toretas will become a wholly-owned subsidiary upon completion of the transaction.

LY Corporation plans to integrate Toretas's reservation platform with its LINE Official Account service, which allows businesses to communicate with customers through the LINE messaging app. LINE has approximately 100 million users in Japan.

The combined system would allow customers to make reservations, place orders, and use loyalty programs within the LINE application.

The service would also incorporate point-of-sale and customer relationship management functions.

The acquisition aligns with LY Corporation's strategy through 2026 to expand software services targeting the hospitality industry, where businesses face labor shortages and data management challenges, the company said.

LY Corporation has created a subsidiary, LY Corporation Business Partners, to provide technical support to businesses in the food service and beauty sectors.

The company said the acquisition would help small and medium-sized enterprises adopt digital tools by leveraging LINE's established user base in Japan.

Toretas's platform, called Toretas Reservation Ledger, operates on a cloud-based model that allows establishments to manage bookings remotely.
