Seoul, South Korea - MetaFarmers, an agricultural robotics company, said it raised KRW 3 billion (US$2.15 million) in pre-Series A funding with Octagon Venture Partners as lead investor, alongside Future Play and Smilegate Investment.

The post money valuation is not disclosed to the public.

The company, founded by robotics specialists from Seoul National University's IDIM Laboratory, is developing the Omni Farmer robot.

The system performs harvesting, pollination, sorting, and monitoring tasks using artificial intelligence recognition technology and interchangeable grippers.

The robot operates in traditional farms, vertical farms, and greenhouses, the company said.

MetaFarmers stated it received the CES 2025 AgTech Innovation Award and other international awards.

The company licensed an AI-based crop growth prediction model from South Korea's Rural Development Administration.

MetaFarmers is conducting proof-of-concept trials with agricultural cooperatives, large farms, and smart farm innovation valleys.

The company cited aging rural populations as driving labor shortages in agriculture.
