Naver Launches Open Beta for 'Thingsbook' UGC Platform in North America

Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corp. (035420. KS) announced Monday the launch of an open beta for Thingsbook, a text-based user-generated content platform targeting the North American market.

The South Korean internet giant, which currently operates platforms including Webtoon, Wattpad, community app BAND, and C2C marketplace Poshmark in the region, is expanding its social media portfolio to include interest-based archiving.

Thingsbook is a text-centric service where users organize content into "Collections" by specific categories such as film, literature, music, and travel.

Unlike social media platforms focused on short-form viral content, Thingsbook uses an archiving structure that prioritizes long-form records and chronological organization.

The platform includes an editor that supports text, images, location data, ratings and external links.

Naver said it plans to integrate Thingsbook with its existing North American services, including Wattpad and Webtoon, for cross-platform content sharing and community interaction.

The open beta follows a three-month closed beta period that began in October 2025.

During the trial phase, Naver monitored user patterns and feedback from North American participants to refine service stability and editor features.

The company did not disclose user acquisition targets or a timeline for the official launch.
