Los Angeles, CA - Executives from Naver Corp. and Netflix Inc. met on Monday to evaluate their existing partnership in Korea and discuss potential future collaborations.

The meeting took place at Netflix's Los Angeles office, with Naver represented by its Chief Executive, Soo-yeon Choi, Webtoon Entertainment CEO Jungoo Kim, and Chief Strategy Officer Kim Yong-su.

Netflix participants included Co-CEO Greg Peters and Global Partnerships head Maria Ferreras, according to a Naver statement.

The companies assessed their "Nenet partnership," which launched in November 2024, allowing Naver Plus subscribers to access Netflix's ad-supported standard service without additional fees.

Naver said new subscriber growth for its Naver Plus membership increased 1.5 times compared to pre-partnership levels.

The company claimed both firms achieved substantial benefits from the arrangement, with Netflix reaching additional users through Naver's platform.

The executives reviewed the partnership's performance and explored other potential collaborations based on these results, according to the statement.

Choi outlined Naver's experience building membership programs through various domestic and international partnerships.

Netflix executives showed interest in Naver's membership service operations and discussed development approaches for such offerings, according to Naver.

Kim Jun-gu, who leads webtoon expansion in North America, presented his company's content business experience and strategic outlook during the discussions.

The companies described the meeting as an initial exchange aimed at improving mutual understanding.

They said specific collaboration plans would be addressed through multiple channels in subsequent discussions.

Choi also participated in a separate closed session with Netflix staff alongside Ferreras on Monday.

During that meeting, Choi highlighted shared user-focused principles and discussed potential synergy expansion based on this foundation, Naver said.
