Naver Partners With Uber for Membership Benefits

Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corp announced Wednesday that subscribers to its Naver Plus Membership service can access Uber One benefits through a partnership with Uber Technologies' taxi operation in South Korea, according to a company statement.

The arrangement took effect on September 30.

Naver Plus Membership subscribers can access Uber One features without incurring additional fees beyond their existing subscription costs.

Uber launched its Uber One subscription service in South Korea in early September, according to the company.

Under the partnership terms, Naver Plus subscribers receive a one-time credit of up to KRW 10,000 ($7.17) applicable to Uber Taxi rides.

Users accumulate credits equivalent to up to 10 percent of fare amounts with no stated maximum on total accumulation.

The credits can be applied to subsequent rides. The service includes assignment priority for drivers with higher user ratings.

Subscribers must select Uber within their Naver Plus Membership interface and register once in the Uber application to activate the benefits, which remain valid for one year.

Individuals without an existing Uber account must complete the standard registration procedures.

Jung Han-na, who heads Naver Membership operations, stated in the announcement that the company has provided benefits across both online and offline channels.

The company plans to expand partnership arrangements with brands including Netflix, Kurly, and Uber Taxi, according to the statement.

Naver Plus Membership costs KRW 4,900 ($3.52) per month or KRW 3,900 ($2.80) per month on an annual term.

The subscription offers point accumulation of up to 5 percent on transactions processed through Naver Pay, as well as monthly access to one content platform among Netflix, PC Game Pass, or Naver Webtoon and Series, 80 gigabytes of MYBOX storage, and 10 cookies distributed upon monthly request.
