SEOUL, South KoreaNaver Corp. said Thursday its artificial intelligence system for summarizing business reviews has boosted user click rates by 27.4 percent and reservations at participating establishments by 8 percent since launching in June.

The South Korean internet giant’s Place AI Briefing feature analyzes customer reviews and photographs to generate concise summaries of restaurants and cafes.

The tool provides information on menu items, atmosphere, reservation procedures, and operational details for businesses listed on the platform.

User engagement metrics released by Naver show the AI summary feature increased average time spent viewing business information by 10.4 percent compared to periods before its rollout.

Clicks on detailed business information sections jumped 137 percent, while clicks on menu information sections rose 30 percent.

The service processes reviews to identify commonly mentioned characteristics and consolidates this information for users searching specific establishments on Naver’s mobile app or mapping platform.

The system provides details including signature dishes, venue atmosphere, reservation availability, and usage guidelines.

Naver analyzed reservation and order data from businesses adopting the AI briefing system, comparing activity levels before and after the feature’s launch.

The company attributed the 8 percent rise in bookings and orders to more efficient information delivery, enabling users to decide on visits without extensive research.

Currently, the system responds only to business name searches, but Naver plans to expand its functionality to handle location-specific queries about parking, child seating, and other amenities.

The company aims to apply the technology to hospitality, beauty services, and tourist destinations, to expand coverage across business categories to double-digit levels by the end of 2025.

“The quality review data accumulated on Naver Place has improved the accuracy of AI briefing and provided practical assistance to users searching for information,” said Ji-hoon Choi, head of Naver Place Search and Content operations.

Naver also offers AI-powered tools for business operators, including PlaceClip, which generates scripts for promotional videos, and an automated review response system currently in beta testing.

The platform uses machine learning to prioritize high-quality, business-relevant images in search results.
