Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corp on Monday published data on artificial intelligence features used by merchants on its platform.

The South Korean internet company released what it called its first case study report on AI technology deployed in its shopping and business directory services.

According to Naver, the report contains usage statistics, merchant interviews, and analysis.

A review management tool for businesses on Naver's Smart Place directory platform achieved a 97% satisfaction rate during beta testing, the company said.

The tool analyzes customer reviews and sends alerts to business owners when content is identified as negative or sensitive. It generates suggested responses based on review text.

One merchant interviewed for the report said response time dropped to under 10 minutes from more extended periods.

The business owner said the tool reduced stress related to review management, according to the report.

Naver said it updated the tool to reduce response time and added customization options for reply format.

The report also covered an AI FAQ system on TalkTalk's messaging platform, Naver's online commerce platform.

The system generates common questions and provides answers using product data through what Naver described as Retrieval Augmented Generation technology.

Choi Bo-reum, a professor at the University of Seoul, said in the report that the AI FAQ system allows for round-the-clock consultation and generates customer data.

Naver said it plans to add an AI FAQ to other services and to include product-suggestion features.

The company said it built a model called e-CLIP to generate product recommendations in the Naver Plus Store.

The model processes user interests, search history, purchase records, and product data. Recommendations appear in wish lists and shopping carts.

A section recommending complementary products showed higher conversion rates than other sections of the product page, according to the report.

The recommendation feature is now offered to all Smart Store sellers at no cost, Naver said. It was previously available through a paid subscription.
