Naver, Seoul National University Hospital Launch Medical LLM

SEOUL, South Korea — Naver Corp. and Seoul National University Hospital said on Friday they had developed a Korean-language large language model for medical applications called Kmed.ai.

According to the companies, the model scored an average of 96.4 points on the 2025 Korean Medical Licensing Examination.

Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, CEO Choi Soo-yeon, Science and Technology Vice Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon, and Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare Lee Hyung-hoon attended the announcement at Seoul National University Hospital.

The model was trained on SNUH ClinicalQA, a medical knowledge dataset registered on the government AI Hub platform, as well as Korean medical law and clinical guidelines, according to the companies.

Medical staff at the hospital provided feedback during development.

Naver said it developed a platform for hospital staff that includes document drafting and diagnostic support functions.

The company said it introduced two additional services: Smart Survey, which converts patient history into medical terminology for electronic medical records, and Patient Summary, which categorises past examination results.

Seoul National University Hospital Director Kim Young-tae said the hospital plans to accelerate its transition to AI-based operations.

Naver said it has invested in J&P Medi, InBody and Senacle.
