NAVER's BAND App Surges to 6M US Users with 20% YoY Growth
Seoul, South Korea—Naver's group and community-focused social media platform BAND has reached 6.04 million monthly active users (MAU) in the United States, marking a significant growth in the competitive social media landscape.
The South Korean tech company reported that BAND has maintained over 20% annual growth in the U.S. since 2021, adding one million new users in the past year alone and crossing the 5 million MAU milestone in October 2022.
The platform has gained traction in educational and after-school activities, with 65% of active groups centered around schools and sports activities. More than 70% of total active users participate in these categories.
User demographics show a concentrated spread across age groups, with teenagers and users in their 40s each representing 25% of the user base, while those in their 30s account for 20% and users in their 20s comprise 15%.
Yoon-ji Chae, leader of BAND US, said the platform aims to develop its services for after-school activities and workplace groups further, focusing on solving group communication challenges.
BAND has recently seen notable expansion into workplace communications, reporting a 40% year-over-year increase in work-related group usage. The platform has been adopted particularly among frontline workers in the F&B, retail, healthcare, and emergency services sectors.
