Portuguese EdTech Platform Wins Web Summit Startup Competition

LISBON, Portugal—Portuguese education technology startup Intuitivo won Web Summit's PITCH competition, beating 104 other startups in the final round, which was judged by venture capital investors.

The Porto-based company's digital assessment platform serves 35,000 teachers and 300,000 students globally, targeting an estimated $5 billion assessment software market.

Data from Intuitivo shows that among 85 million teachers worldwide, 46% of the time is spent teaching, while 1.5 months annually are dedicated to creating and grading assessments. The company reports its platform reduces grading time by 40%.

The 2024 Web Summit attracted 71,528 attendees from 153 countries, with 3,050 exhibiting companies and 1,066 investors. 

Women-founded startups comprised 44% of participants, while women represented 42% of attendees and 37% of speakers.
