Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics reported fourth-quarter revenue of 93.8 trillion (US$ 63.7 billion), a 9 percent increase from the previous quarter, as the South Korean technology giant continued to benefit from strong demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence applications.

The company’s operating profit rose to 20.1 trillion (US$ 13.7 billion), up from 12.2 trillion (US$ 8.3 billion) in the third quarter.

Full-year 2025 revenue totaled KRW 333.6 trillion (US$ 226.6 billion), with operating profit of KRW 43.6 trillion (US$ 29.6 billion).

Samsung’s chip-making division, Device Solutions, reported revenue of KRW 44.0 trillion (US$ 29.9 billion), a 33 percent jump from the previous quarter, with operating profit of KRW 16.4 trillion (US$ 11.1 billion).

The memory business, which produces chips for data centers and smartphones, generated revenue of KRW 37.1 trillion (US$ 25.2 billion) for the quarter.

According to the company, results reflected strong demand for DRAM products and increased sales of high-bandwidth memory chips, which are critical for AI computing.

Shipments of server DDR5 memory and enterprise solid-state drives also rose during the period.

In its foundry operations, which manufacture chips designed by other companies, Samsung said it started mass production of 2-nanometer products and began shipping 4-nanometer high-bandwidth memory base dies.

Foundry revenue increased on orders from customers in the United States and China, though earnings were pressured by provisioning costs.

The Device Experience (DX) Division reported revenue of KRW 44.3 trillion (US$ 30.1 billion) and operating profit of KRW 1.3 trillion (US$ 0.9 billion).

The Mobile eXperience (MX) and Networks businesses recorded revenue of KRW 29.3 trillion (US$ 19.9 billion), a decline from the previous quarter as the initial surge from new product launches subsided.

Samsung Display, which makes screens for smartphones and other devices, reported revenue of KRW 9.5 trillion (US$ 6.5 billion) and operating profit of KRW 2.0 trillion (US$ 1.4 billion).

The results reflected sales to smartphone manufacturers and customers in the automotive and technology sectors.

Research and development expenditures totaled KRW 10.9 trillion (US$ 7.4 billion) for the quarter and KRW 37.7 trillion (US$ 25.6 billion) for the full year.

The company reported a net cash position of KRW 100.61 trillion (US$ 68.4 billion) as of December 31, 2025.

Looking ahead, Samsung said it expects continued demand related to artificial intelligence applications in the first quarter.

The memory division plans to begin mass production of HBM4 chips, including a version with speeds of 11.7 gigabits per second.

The MX Business plans to release the Galaxy S26 series.

For its foundry business, Samsung is targeting double-digit revenue growth in 2026, driven by advanced chip production and the rollout of a second-generation 2-nanometer manufacturing process.
