Seoul, South Korea / Las Vegas, NV - Samsung Electronics and Google Cloud announced that they will integrate Google Cloud's Gemini generative AI technology into Samsung's Ballie, a new AI companion robot for home use.

The companies said in a joint announcement at Google Cloud Next '25 in Las Vegas that the robot will be available to consumers in the United States and South Korea this summer.

According to Samsung, Ballie will process and understand multiple types of input, including voice commands, visual data from its built-in camera, and environmental sensors, by combining Gemini's multimodal capabilities with Samsung's proprietary language models.

"Through this partnership, Samsung and Google Cloud are redefining the role of AI in the home," said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The companies said Ballie will perform household tasks such as adjusting lighting, greeting people at the door, managing personalized schedules, and setting reminders.

The robot can also provide styling recommendations and health advice using Gemini's connections to Google Search.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said the partnership demonstrates "how to deploy generative AI at scale, integrating it directly into the heart of their popular products."

The collaboration extends the companies' existing partnership, which began last year with integrating Gemini on Google Cloud into Samsung's Galaxy S24 smartphone series.

According to the announcement, Samsung has not yet finalized product specifications, requirements, or pricing for the Ballie robot.
