TOKYO, Japan — SoftBank Corp announced Wednesday that its supercomputer ranked first in Japan and fifth globally on a benchmark for artificial intelligence computational performance.

The ranking was announced at SC2025, an international high-performance computing conference, according to the company.

The system, designated CHIE-4, uses NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD architecture with more than 4,000 NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processing units, the company stated.

CHIE-4 received the highest domestic ranking on the HPL-MxP benchmark, which evaluates AI computing capability.

On the TOP500 list, which measures overall supercomputer performance, the system ranked 17th globally and third in Japan, according to SoftBank.

The system placed sixth worldwide and second in Japan on the HPCG benchmark, which measures processing performance for scientific and technical calculations, according to the company.

SoftBank stated it plans to make its computing infrastructure available to developers in the corporate and research sectors.
