Tokyo, Japan - The Tokyo metropolitan government announced plans for its annual SusHi Tech technology conference, which is scheduled to take place from April 27 to 29 at Tokyo Big Sight.

Vice Governor Manabu Miyasaka outlined the program at a preview event held at the Tokyo Innovation Base.

Organizers expect 700 exhibitors, 60,000 attendees, and 10,000 scheduled meetings at the 2026 edition.

The conference will focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, resilience, and entertainment, according to Miyasaka, who chairs the event’s organizing committee.

Technical demonstrations will include a self-driving minibus service from TIER IV, Inc., which intends to operate passenger test rides connecting locations around the venue.

The company classifies the service as Level 4 autonomous mobility, meaning the vehicle can operate without human intervention under defined conditions.

Howard Wright, vice president at NVIDIA, is scheduled to speak on the commercial deployment of automated technologies.

The event is part of Tokyo’s "Global Innovation Strategy 2.0," a metropolitan government policy that directs funding toward startups and growth-stage companies in priority industries.

Kayoko Sawada, a director at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, stated that the national government’s five-year startup development plan is entering its final phase.

International organizations participating in the event include Business France, Enterprise Singapore, Startup Island Taiwan, and global venture capital firms.

Corporate partners Sony Group Corporation and Yamato Holdings plan to present projects related to fusion energy and automated logistics.

The program will also include an AI film festival on April 26 and a preview of an urban promenade planned along a former elevated expressway known as the KK route.
